3. Cut a rectangle of fabric for the base of the basket. With right sides together, machine stitch the sides of the lining to the base. Trim the corners and press.

4. Place the lining inside the basket and mark where the handles are. Cut out a rectangle at each end that is exactly the same size as the handles. Take the lining out of the basket.

5. For each handle, cut a length of ribbon slightly longer than the sides and base of the handle rectangle and press it in half widthways. Pin, tack and machine stitch the ribbon around the handle of the lining, folding the ribbon neatly at the corners.
